The decision, a strip mall office somewhere closer to the frontage road or find a site downtown. When faced with a required move, new franchise owner Kris Villars knew moving to downtown had the potential of damaging the considerable walk-in traffic the local RE/MAX office had developed over the past several years a block off Hwy 41.
The choice was unanimous among the 9 agents who were making the move with the new owner, downtown it was. That was just over a year ago and the decision has paid off not just for RE/MAX On The Water, but also for downtown. The National Bank Building at the corner of Washington and Main St. got an anchor for their highly visible southeast corner and downtown got a group of dedicated downtown supporters.
The selection of the new name “RE/MAX On The Water” reinforces the agencies connection to Oshkosh. There was a minor kerfuffle when the City toyed with the idea of changing their identification to an event ticket. That change would have created a problem for not just RE/MAX On The Water, but many of the water based names of events and business in Oshkosh. But smarter heads ruled out so “on the water” will stay a part of Oshkosh and RE/MAX On The Water.
The 2010 Holiday parade last week offered the first opportunity to really light up the community for the agents. From the response of the crowd, they were a huge success.
Kris, Mike, Stacy, Mary, Pam, Lyle, Dawn, Kathy and Polly look forward to growing with downtown and becoming an even bigger part of our city.
